What is a Brand Mention?
In LLM Pulse, a Brand Mention refers exclusively to an explicit reference to a brand, such as a company or product name, appearing in the text of responses generated by Large Language Models.
Brand Mentions are detected as plain text references. They can appear without any link, or as linked text using anchor text, but only if the anchor text itself contains the brand name. Clickable URLs or links where the brand is not visible in the anchor text are not counted as Brand Mentions. A brand written as its domain, as in âcompare prices on acme.com before you buyâ, usually counts as a Brand Mention when the AI writes it inside a sentence, list item or table. The domain must contain one of your matching names as a whole word, so acme.com counts for Acme but acmeshop.com does not. Links the AI adds to show its sources, such as citation chips next to a sentence or a list of sources, are not Brand Mentions: they are classified as Citations in LLM Pulse.
In LLM Pulse, Brand Mentions are configured via the âMatching namesâ field in âProject settingsâ, where teams define the exact brand names and variations the system should recognize and track.
You can see the number of your own and competitorsâ Brand Mentions across every AI model you track in Overview > Mentions > Brand Mentions.
To inspect Brand Mentions answer by answer, open the AI Responses table. Each row is a single prompt run against one AI model and lists the brand sentiment, the mention position and the exact brands referenced in that response, so you can see precisely where and how your brand was named.
This metric is used to build âBrand Visibilityâ and âShare of Voiceâ.
