What this report covers
When ChatGPT cites a page, it usually adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to the link. That tag is how most analytics tools tell a ChatGPT visit apart from direct traffic. OpenAI can change this behavior at any time, and when the tag drops out, ChatGPT referrals quietly disappear from reports.
This report checks every cited link in the ChatGPT answers we collect and publishes the daily share of answers that carried the tag. Built on the LLM Pulse dataset.
How we measure this

We collect real ChatGPT answers every day and store each cited link exactly as ChatGPT returned it, tracking parameters included.

Tagging rate = (answers with at least one cited link containing utm_source=chatgpt.com) / (answers with at least one cited link). Answers without cited links are left out.

One-day window per calendar day in Madrid time, so a change in ChatGPT's behavior shows up on the day it happens. Days with too few answers are not published.
Why this matters
If you measure AI traffic, this rate tells you whether your analytics can still see ChatGPT. A drop here means ChatGPT referrals are being counted as direct or unattributed traffic, not that ChatGPT sent fewer visitors.
