ChatGPT answers are no longer ad-free. OpenAI sells sponsored placements that render inside the answer itself, and the rollout is running country by country rather than everywhere at once. This report tracks how much of the answer surface is already monetized in each market.
The number surprises people. In the markets where ads have gone live, they are not an occasional experiment on a thin slice of queries: they are on the majority of answers. The countries still sitting near zero are the ones to watch, because that is where the rollout has not landed yet. Built on the LLM Pulse dataset.
Every week LLM Pulse runs thousands of prompts through ChatGPT and captures the full answer, including any sponsored placements rendered inside it.
Coverage rate = (answers with at least one ad) / (answers where ads could appear). An answer counts once no matter how many ads it carries.
We only ask for ads in the countries where OpenAI has enabled them, so the denominator is limited to answers we can actually observe ads in. A country where we do not yet collect ads is left out of the table rather than published as a zero.
A country needs a meaningful number of answers in the window before it is published, so a handful of results can never set a headline rate.

Every ad inside an answer takes attention that used to go to the organic recommendation underneath it. Coverage is the cleanest measure of how much of the AI answer is now paid space, and in the live markets that share is already large.
The per-country view is the early warning. When a market flips from near zero to the majority of answers, budgets follow within weeks, and the brands that were watching get to buy before the category fills up. LLM Pulse tracks ad coverage on your own prompts, per country and per category.
