Annotations: mark events on your AI visibility charts
When your visibility changes, annotations help you see what happened around the same time. You can add your own notes for events such as content updates, PR campaigns, product launches, and site migrations. LLM Pulse can also record selected project changes automatically.
Find Annotations in the sidebar. This feature is available on every plan, including Starter.
Automatic annotations
LLM Pulse can create annotations when:
- Prompts are added or removed
- The enabled AI models change
- The tracking frequency changes
Prompt changes are grouped into one annotation per project per day. For example, adding 12 prompts and removing 3 prompts on the same day creates one summary instead of 15 separate annotations.
Changes to competitors and brand matching names are not recorded. Those changes affect historical data, so a new annotation would not represent a change from that date onward.
You can switch automatic annotations off for each project. You can also hide an individual automatic annotation if it is not useful for your analysis.
Manage annotations
The Annotations page lists all annotations for the current project. Use the type filter to show:
- Manual
- Automatic
- Platform
- GEO test
Manual annotations use color-coded categories to organize content, PR, technical, and campaign events. GEO Testing creates annotations for test change dates.
Add a manual annotation
- Open Annotations from the sidebar
- Create an annotation with a date, title, optional note, and category
- The annotation appears as a marker on supported timeline charts
- Check nearby annotations when reviewing a jump or dip in your data
Only the creator can edit or delete a manual annotation. You can also ask the LLM Pulse Agent to create one, for example: "Annotate today: launched new pricing page."
